Plain English first. Travelescape is free to read. It has no ad networks and no tracking, but it still costs money to run: the servers, the email, the domain and a fee for every guest essay. Here is every way money, or anything else of value, touches what you read, and how to tell.
01
Who Pays for Travelescape
- TE Journeys. Our small-group trips are Travelescape's sister business, and they pay our guest writers. When a page points to TE Journeys, that is us, not a sponsor.
- Travel companies, now and then. Some pages carry links to travel companies under an arrangement with us, only for legitimate travel services. Those links are marked as sponsored for search engines, so they never lift anyone's place in search results, and every page that has them is listed below.
02
Pages With Sponsored Links
These pages carry links marked as sponsored today:
- Cherrapunji Travel Guide
- Dubai Travel Guide for Indians
- Five Classic Dubai Sights (it began in 2021 as a sponsored list)
- Hampta Pass Trek
- Ketti Travel Guide
- Making Travel Videos
- Things to See and Do in Pune (one older link to a betting site's Wimbledon odds, not a travel service)
- Solo Travel in India
- Chennai to Kodaikanal
- Satpura National Park and Forsyth Lodge (the lodge paid for the writer's stay, as the essay says)
- Spiritual Retreats in India (one older link to a casino review site, not a travel service)
Three pieces were written for us by travel companies, and say so on the page: London experiences (Trafalgar), a Tibet tour (WindhorseTour) and Vietnam's sightseeing cruises (Tripfuser, now Designer Journeys).
03
Pieces That Began as Sponsored
Some older guides were written, before 2026, as paid posts. When we refresh one, the sponsor's plugs come out, and the editors' note on the page says it began as sponsored.
04
Stays and Trips Given to Us
If a stay, a trip or anything else was given to a writer, the piece says so.
05
What Money Never Buys
A writer's opinion, a change to what someone wrote, a good word about a place, or a place in search results. We take no link offers and no posts from SEO agencies, and no new links about betting or money games, whatever is offered.
06
How We Use AI
- Ask Travelescape answers from our own pages with an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic), and says so (Terms, Ask Travelescape).
- Our editors use AI to check facts and to draft the updates and quick answers on refreshed guides. A person reads and approves every word, and nothing is invented about a place none of us has been.
- Writers may use AI to edit or translate their own words, never to invent the experience.
- Pictures: we don't add AI-made pictures of places.
